ANRC Rally 2005
Tug of War
The final event to contribute to the Amber Shield, was held on the Monday, the Tug of War. The points between the competing clubs were now so close that the winner of the TOW would win the Amber Shield. The TOW was not actually a TOW between two teams, but the owing of a horrible old dumper truck 150 yards down a now wet field. The dumper (thanks to sadistic Dave the NBC commodore) did not steer correctly, had flat tyres and was not only loaded with a driver and many sand bags. The teams must consist of one female and two males. To make the OCC team was almost impossible !! That is of abled people that did not suffer from either back or leg problems. Or was it just looking at the dumper, the length of the course and the poor weather, they developed them to order?
Good OCC members ( or were they just stupid?) Anthony, Tim and Roberta raised to the challenge. Although they could only move the dumper about 10 feet, they put in a sturdy effort for OCC. Never mind guys, we'll get a ringer, (Geoff Capes) next year.
